Robin Reid's editorial relationship with Muir's Textbook of Pathology began as an undergraduate proof-reader of the eighth edition and matured through authorship of orthopaedic-pathology material in the twelfth edition before he joined David Levison, Alastair Burt, David Harrison and Stewart Fleming on the fourteenth (Hodder Arnold, 2008). A Glasgow-trained pathologist long associated with undergraduate teaching, he also co-authored the widely used Pathology Illustrated series. He has contributed to NHS Glasgow initiatives on the history of Scottish laboratory medicine.
