Biography

John Russell Anderson was Muir's successor in the Glasgow chair: he modernised immunopathology teaching while stewarding Muir's Textbook of Pathology through the editions that bridged Edward Arnold and Williams & Wilkins (including the 1985 Arnold imprint and the 1988 twelfth edition). Elected FRSE and appointed CBE, he is remembered for sustaining the single-volume British pathology textbook tradition that Muir and Cappell had begun.
