Biography
Daniel Fowler Cappell was a leading Scottish morbid anatomist who succeeded into the Glasgow pathology tradition established by Sir Robert Muir. After the St Andrews chair (1931–1945) he held the Regius Chair of Pathology at Glasgow (1945–1967). With J. R. (John Russell) Anderson he carried Muir's Textbook of Pathology through major post-war revisions—notably the ninth edition of 1971—preserving Muir's insistence on linking microscopic mechanism to bedside disease.
